talking to teachers

Don't feel guilty about having time off school after someone has died. You might want to take some days off before you go back, people are different and some people will need more time than others. Do whatever feels right for you.

It might be a good idea to let the teachers know what has happened. Perhaps someone in the family could get in touch with them, or chose a teacher that you like to explain things to. That way they will be more understanding if you are feeling tearful or upset during the day or maybe just feeling a bit quiet. If you are finding it difficult to cope with your workload as well as your grief, chose a favourite teacher to talk to and explain your situation. They should understand your problem and you can work together to reach a compromise.
