when someone dies

how long will i feel like this?

There is no set formula for grief. Each person deals with the death of a loved one at their own pace. There is not a specific time period that it will last. Good memories and sad moments will be with you throughout your life as you think of the person who has died.
There will be certain things that will remind you of the death, some things are obvious like the anniversary of the death or the birthday of the person. Other things may take you by surprise, you might find that when something unrelated upsets you, you find yourself thinking about that person or your sadness.
Sometimes their favourite song, or picture will remind you of your loss; and, at other times, these events will evoke warm, loving, tender feelings. You can have a look at the Timeline on this website where people have written in with their feelings and experiences at different points in time since someone has died. You can add something about how you are feeling at the moment if you like.
