story 466: Rich, age 11

My grandma died when I was 10, but when my dad phoned to say she had died I was watching a cartoon on TV and I just kept watching it, so my mum said I didn't care. Then I tried to make myself cry, but my mum just went back to the phone and told my dad I was pretending to cry but was more interested in the TV. I really did want to cry properly but I couldn't. Then a year later I woke up in the night and cried and cried because I realised Grandma was gone forever. It's like it took a whole year to sink in.
