She wears her rightful crown

by Donna - 14 Apr 06

As the day began
my heart sank
today unlike any other
was the day
In which we were
about to bury
my mother
I thought about her life how she loved us all
Only two days before she had passed away
we sat at the kitchen table
as she began to say
Remember when you three were small
and to make you laugh
as I was hanging out the washing
that I had done by hand,
your dad wouldnt buy me a washing machine
and I would poke my head through the sheets
pretending I was a ghostie!
And all of a sudden I would say BOO!
just to make you laugh you know
it was never meant to scare you
I can't help thinking that today
there will be no more clothes to wash
nor sheets to hang
for god has claimed her back
today she wears her rightful crown
and I know somewhere up there
my mum still plays the clown
